Acute appendicitis is an emergency surgical condition in which inflammation of the appendix leads to purulent and then necrotic changes with the development of inflammation of the abdominal cavity (peritonitis).
The disease usually presents with symptoms such as:
- pain in the upper or right parts of the abdomen,
- nausea,
- fever.
But there are atypical manifestations of acute appendicitis.

If the symptoms have passed during the observation, the diagnosis of acute appendicitis is excluded, and the patient is treated conservatively.

Laparoscopic appendectomy
The operation is performed through three punctures of the abdominal wall of 5-10 mm, under the control of a video camera using special endoscopic instruments. The advantage of laparoscopic appendectomy is the cosmetic effect of subtle skin punctures, early rehabilitation. During laparoscopy, a wider examination of the abdominal cavity is possible, which is especially needed for women when it is necessary to examine the uterus and ovaries. If gynecological pathology is detected, immediate surgery will possibly be performed. Laparoscopic appendectomy is performed under general anesthesia.

Classical appendectomy
Removal of the appendix through a 4-7 cm incision in the right iliac region with using of radiofrequency and electric suturing surgical apparatus. Spinal, intravenous or general anesthesia is used.
